Anthr4XdotNl: Try typing ydltext at the kboot screen followed by pressing enter. It doesn't matter if you do this before kboot shows up. Give it some time to load...

[Today 07:58 PM] lildre09: i did that and now im to the part where i type my login in. I do that and then it says authentication service cannot retrieve authentication
Did you try root as username?

If so, are you sure your using the right password?

Did you complete the install, without errors?

hey lildre, for a thorough review of videomodes for the PS3, read the 14th post in this thread:

[Please register to see this link. ]

Now specific to you, you have installed on an HDTV in graphical mode, and now want to downgrade to a SDTV.

Therefore, you need to:

1. edit kboot.conf in the /etc folder and replace the line default=ydl or whatever it says with default=ydl480i
2. edit xorg.conf in the /etc/X11 folder as per the above thread

To get there, when you next boot up and it gets to the kboot prompt and pauses for a few seconds, hit the TAB key until you see ydl480i and then hit ENTER.

login as normal.

to make changes permanent, open up a terminal window in YDL and:

to get into root control
Quote:
su -
(hit ENTER) then enter your root password

HIT ENTER AFTER EACH OF THESE LINES FOLLOWING:
to change up directories
Quote:
cd ..
cd ..
then change directory to etc
Quote:
cd etc
then backup kboot.conf
Quote:
cp kboot.conf kboot.bak
then edit kboot.conf
Quote:
vi kboot.conf
you may need to hit the insert key to start typing, hit :wq to save and quit when you have finished

you can edit the xorg.conf file the same way.
