Default Yellow dog and other linux clarification

hey evryone,

I want to know if yellow dog use all the cell in the ps3 or use only one?

i think ubuntu use only one (not sure), soo taht would be something i would opt for yellow dog, but I'm pretty familiar with ubuntu or fedora core soo I dont know wich one, soo I was just checking if yellow dog offer more power on the cell or is it about the same?

thank you

you are talking bout the SPE's i think and whether Linux has access to them.

here is the bottom line:

Sony Game OS is always running in background mode, and controls what Other OS is capable of doing:

e.g.

- can't format internal HD other than 10 gigs for one system, and remainder for other

- can't access RSX or accelerated graphics mode in Other OS (graphics run in frame buffer mode)

- can't access more than 256 meg of internal RAM memory in Other OS !!

This last one may be cracked soon with Ubuntu or other distro workarounds, its experimental right now

All distros have these basic limitations, so go with what you like and experiment with the rest of us, if you want, try more than 1 distro, I am trying my third (ubuntu)

I think YDL is the most stable and easiest to install and maintain for PS3.

I never use yelloew dog I know ubuntu, the most i know, have a server and have it on my notebook

I know fedora core (learn it from centos (wich is essencially redhat))

and a little of open suse

but for YDL I know nothing i think i will go with ubuntu since alot of people are on it soo support and tutorial will be easier,

but i was wondering, if YDL run faster than ubuntu or it's the same and have the same restriction, anyway hope sony will open access to the core and rsx sometime not full access just enought to make movie brownsing and thing like that normal, not asking for 3d acceleration maybe 2d acceleration would be enought for 1080p movie (really dont know about that one)
