Hi im new to linux, just got a couple question

hi i got YDL 6 installed on my PS3 lastnight. im going on it later to look around on it as i havent looked at it yet.

my main reason for instaalling YDL 6 was to browse online better and play more video types. i just wanted to know if i can play .MKV files, if so how?

i have been looking around on forums but cant find a direct answer.

also i got problem going full screen. (getting rid of black boarders)

my tv is a sony 50in. (my tv can go upto 1080i) i have been following this guide [Please register to see this link. ]
at the moment my video mode is on 3.
so if i use video parameter: 4 for 1080i 60hz and then -f for fullscreen i should get fullscreen? but i dont the picture goes all off screen.
so can anyone help me?
