Default Help With Comfiguring Yum and Yumex

Ok first off let me tell you that I am a complete linux noob. Anyways.... I am trying to update my Yum.comf and repos files but i do not understand the directions at all. The directions which i am trying to follow are from yum.conf.info. Here are the directions i am given : first delet yum.conf
copie this one cp yum.conf to /etc/

go grab keys rpm-gpg-key for in shell/console

Go into your terminal and type these commands as root (or type su to gain root privileges

rpm --import http://redhat.download.fedoraproject...-Fedora-Extras

and

rpm --import http://svn.rpmforge.net/svn/trunk/rp...-KEY-freshrpms

rpm --import http://svn.rpmforge.net/svn/trunk/rp...-KEY-yellowdog

thats it!

The part which i am confused with is the first part (the red text) can someone please explain them to me in the easiest to understand terms as possible. Please! Help! Also if you could add a small tutorial on how to do this it would help me greatly. Thanks

I'm also a noob at linux so to put it simple you need to go to the /etc folder and replace the yum.conf file.

I think for you it would be easier to log in as root and use the explorer.
Login with the username: root and your password.
Now use the explorer (found in the menu bar , called nautilus).
Navigate to the top level of your drive and find the folder called "etc". Here is a file called yum.conf. Replace it with the one you download. Just a simple copy/paste.

i think that if you replace the file with the one in the download section, the "yum.comf" than you dont even need to follow the tutorial to update yum and yumex. Try going into terminal and typing"yum install yumex" this should help you out.
