Guys have installed YDL onto PS3, all very good and I do like it - especially Firefox, now what I am trying to install next is Mplayer and VLC basically I want to see just how well YDL and PS3 can handle my xvid and divx files, currently I am using an xbox 1 with xbmc and mc360 skin for this - that said it would be great if so people on this very forum could help some of us noobs at linux as at the moment and over the past few weeks its like we are trying to extract blood from a stone, there are a lot of linux noobs on here like myself of whom are prepared to read and try but just need a little guidance ...
Any help in pointing us in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. And before somebody types use the search button, how about just trying to help us with our questions.
Drogo and YDL97, are you guys serious? (not Takenover83)
I mean there are hours and hours of work in here about how to do this and that, especially mplayer and VLC.
We have had some of the best PS3 Linux guys drop by and refine the work, and there are many many members that have taken the time to read, search the site, try their installations, and post good questions that actually contribute to others. And no, I don't expect you guys to be experts, but you have to show a little more than vague questions and little effort in posting good information about what you want and what you did or what happened. And did you bring any info to the site or is it one big grab bag and dash for the door??
You guys drop in, want everything, contribute nothing, and don't even click on a google ad once in a while to actually "donate" a little rep to the site. ARe you truly serious?
I mean its posts like this that ruin the whole experience.
Sorry , can you tell me this then in laymen terms easy. For your mplayer guide in step 5, where is /usr/local/share/mplayer/skin/default?
And how can I contribute if I have been stuck on this for hours?
YDL, do you have nautilus, it is the file manager in YDL. You are familiar with directories and files from your windoze computer right? Navigate to your /usr/ directory using point and click in nautilus or whatever file manager you have running.
at some point you may have to create the skin directory or the default directory depending upon how your setup of mplayer went. I think you can right click on a directory or use the menu to create a directory inside another directory.
You can also get there in a terminal window by going cd /usr/ (enter)
Once you are in /usr/ you can do a ls (enter) to get a listing of files and directories inside of /usr/
anywayz, you can go cd /usr/local/share in one command and then do an ls (enter) and see if mplayer directory is there. If it is then cd /mplayer/ will get you in there. to make a directory in terminal window, you go mkdir /skin/ for instance. really, u should read some basics on linux, check the articles in the front page. You need to navigate, use google if my article or instructions are not there. good luck.

Thanks ,a easy way of saying it is, go to computer, then filesystem
But when I type gmplayer in the terminal it says-
After CPU: Power pc -(usr/local/share/skins/default/skin) not found. Skin not found (default).
