Any new developments on this topic? I also wanted to remove YDL 6 off my HDD. Did a full format on PS3, and the other OS is still there. Did a full format with HDD hooked up to my computer and the other OS is still there.

What I mean is that whenever I go to system settings and select other OS, the two penguins show up w/ the text and it stays on that screen.

That is the boot loader not the partitions. The boot loader is stored on the ps3's flash memory. The partitions are entirely gone. The only way is to get rid of it is to reset the ps3 to factory form.

Well some people buy the big memory thinking "bigger is always better". I have the 40 gig so right now the game OS has 27GB to use while the other 10GB has YDL6 on it. The actual memory that can be used on it is 37GB. On the game OS I have Warhawk(and 2 expansion packs is about 2GB), the original Warhawk for ps1(244MB), Super Stardust HD(with one expanison pack is about 200MB), Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (55MB), flOw(plus 1 expansion pack about 200MB), echochrome demo(34MB), and Ironman demo(about 1GB). And so far as it shows in the system information I have only used 8GB of the total game OS memory. But thats all I have. Don't have any music or vids on it; thats what my computer is for and I can access all my media on my computer using the media server option on the ps3.
