Default Black Screen. Noooo!!!! Help Me Please

I hope someone out their can help me please I tried installing yellowdog linux 5 and got stuck at kboot screen and gave up on it. I tried to get my ps3 to factory settings ( completely remove linux and partition ) did a full install, then cancelled because it took too long.
I notice that instead of my usual 74gb i had 64gb cuz I did not remove the partition stupidly enough, I tried using the other os to see if it was still existint on my ps3, the penguins showed up and followed by a black screen. NOW EVERY TIME I START MY SYSTEM IT IS STUCK IN OTHER OS AND A BLACK SCREEN, the 4 usbs dont even function. Help did I brick my ps3 or can I just replace the hard drive and problem solved. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP I just want her back

I have done what you suggested as well as these ...

- unplugged the ps3 from outlet for 20 min to reset memory I guess, then plugged back and nada

- removed the hard drive while power off for 5 min to try to reset memory from starting the other os system, and nothing still black screen

- tried starting Ps3 without any hard drive, same thing

The state of my ps3 in my view is that I have semi formatted the HD, and booted linux to black screen. Now I am always in other os when I start up. The USB's dont work, nor do the keyboard or ps3 controller. does not boot games or dvd's or anything for that matter. thanks for your imput though

Make sure the PS3 is showing a red light then hold in the power button until it beeps.

Or take out the RAM and replace it with meat. See what happens.

Strange, because you can't erase the PS3 XMB partition. Simply holding down the power button(to reset A/V defaults and return to default OS) should work. What happens when you hold down the power button when powering on? Does it beep and STILL boot to OTHEROS? Remember, when you reset the PS3 "defaults" it will boot to a composite source(but it should detect HDMI if used). I haven't tried component, but I don't think it will recognize it....

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to linux, but I'm very knowledgeable, I wouldn't panic just yet, I had similar problem, when installing gentoo (I know it's not ydl but, when holding down the power button until it beeps twice....that would fix the problem and if you want to install gentoo on your ps3, I wrote a tutorial on here follow it and you'll have linux on your system in no time

well I don't know much about ydl 6 ,I'm still trying to tackle gentoo but ill try to do some research on it to try to help you.and I think to do delete that partition, go to the system click format harddrive, then click custom, then click allot 10gb for otherOs. It will reformat that partition, so if you wanted to try to install ydl again, thats only if you wanted.

I did what nightcrawler said and it got even worse went to 54gb I also tried the option of alotting 10gb to the ps3 thinking it would give the space back to the ps3 but oh no its down to an even worse 9024mb out of 74gb wtf?

I have called sony any all they said was to purchase a new hard drive, or find an installation disk for ydl 5.

Can my ps3 hd be formatted by computer through partition magic or something or do I have to buy a new sata hard disk.?
