If by XMB you mean ps3 menu then I tried everything. I cant believe sony lets create a partition but does not let you delete one that is just retarted in so many ways. I think Im going to get a 160gb hard drive instead, and never mess with linux again! Ive learned my lesson. Thanks for the advice though in saving my ps3 to begin with. hell at least I can still play games, good work guys!

Well - if you want to boot from memory and wipe the linux partitions, let me know.
Its shouldn't be too difficult - with a livecd

sorry that last bit of info didnt help, I did alotting (reformating that same partion) and I didnt loose any extra GB'swhen I got stuck installing gentoo, and that fixed my problem, I thought it would help im sorry, the other solution is (back up your info, game saves, demos etc, and reformat the whole ps3 harddrive and see that doesn't do the trick (just a thought)

Don't get discouraged after your first try with Linux, it's a wonderful thing to learn. Start from the beginning and I'll help you through the install process. I was gonna start fresh again anyhow.

o ok, Krack3n, I got gentoo installed on my ps3 pretty smoothly, after a few hiccups...anyway I've been hearing a lot about samba (for its ability to stream movies and files to your ps3, I've been looking for it , I would appreciate if you could tell me where to get it?

should be pre-installed with any distro.
config file is smb.conf(lol, good luck - j/k)
