Terra Soft Releases YDL v6.0 for Apple PowerPC, Sony PS3, IBM System P
LOVELAND, Colorado - 5 February 2008 - Terra Soft today released Yellow Dog Linux v6.0 for Sony PS3, Apple G4/G5, and IBM System p. Built upon the CentOS foundation, a popular derivative of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), YDL v6.0 offers enterprise quality for the home user.
"This particular release marks an important point in our history, leading into our tenth year of Linux OS development and distribution for the Power architecture. To put things in perspective, in the spring of 1999 all installers were text-based, cell phone modems functioned only in the movies, and the fastest desktops ran at 300MHz ... it would be another year before we shipped with AltiVec support. Now, the Cell CPU offers 3.2GHz across 9 cores and our cell phones nearly equal the performance of a desktop of 1999," states Kai Staats, Terra Soft CEO.
YDL v6.0 delivers the professional quality of an enterprise level Linux distribution to a just-works desktop experience for both PS3 and Apple PowerPC. Built upon CentOS with select Fedora 7 components, YDL v6.0 integrates the "E17" desktop to provide a lean, uncluttered interface.
Staats concludes, "We remain proud to provide the finest Linux OS for Power experience, and it just keeps getting better. Many thanks to Red Hat, the open source community and CentOS team, IBM and Sony for making YDL v6.0 possible. Enjoy!"

i don't torrent and I believe its too large to upload to a file share, so unless PS3HAX allows me to put it here(in the downloads section) I don't know how plausible that is....sorry.

Would it be possible for a link to where you downloaded it from?
You cannot do a simple upgrade from YDL 5 to YDL 6 as YDL 6 is a completely new version of YDL. You will have to do a full reinstall.
Video is driving me nuts. I got it working in 720p and 1080i(for my 1080i HDTV), but at weird resolutions. I need to figure out my exact modelines and reconfigure xorg.conf Nautilus is not drawing to my desktop properly, I get a full screen desktop with the E17 menu at the top and am able to change the background, but nautilus shows up as a smaller box in the bottom right hand corner of the screen with its own blank blue background.
Thanks I checked the ydl.net forums and found nothing.
TerraSoft doesn't have much in their "solutions" section.
Mostly how to use the ps3-video-mode, and that works fine.
I'm going through those forums now.
[EDIT] Got it..... Menu -> Windows - Cleanup Windows
(that fixed the nautilus issue, now to address my resolutions properly)
thanks
