Yellow Dog and black border on plasma - PS3Hax

Hi everyone

Firstly I just wana say a BIG thankyou to all the people offering help in here its appreciated alot.
Secondly I have installed yellow dog with no problems at all and have movies streaming over my network but ive noticed that at any time im using yellow dog there is a small black border around the edges of all sides of my plasma. Is there anyway I can remove these borders? Its seems yellow dog isnt using the full display. Any input is welcomed. Thanks again.

there is no way to get around that. It's a limitation of ps3video mode driver. 720P, 1080P resolutions aren't up to snuff. One way to get around it is to use video mode + 128 or -f.

So if you're display is 720P, that's mode 3. 3+128= 131. Your video mode should be set to 131 in kboot.conf. Or you simply use your current mode 3, but add -f (full screen).

The problem with full screen is that it will overscan. So, the desktop area will go beyond your Plasma's display area. If your plasma has a way of reducing overscan, or eliminating it, then you won't have any problems. However, if your plasma does not have the capability to eliminate overscan, then you have a problem like the rest of us. Although your problem is far worse since black borders on plama will suffer burn-in. I would adivse to use the full screen mode (-f), or don't use PS3 linux at all on plasma screens.

can't you set a resolution like 1280x720 or does the ps3 hardware only allow 480i/p 720p and 1080i/p?

Only 1280 x 768 is supported according to YDL site. And if your TV will accept that signal, then you'll need to modify your xorg.conf.

nice i have finally foud how to set in full screen!!!xorg.conf make all the difference when i ps3videomode...

I try setting the video mode to -f full screen and my disllpay is all screwed up... it's like the image was a jiggsaw puzzle that was moved around.

I read somewhere somethinga bout overscan... anyone know how to fix this? If the ps3 can display 720p and use the whole screen why can't l00nix?

Never mind I just reinstalled YDL but I still have the black bars around my screen. Anyone know how I can fix it. I'm using a Westinghouse LTV-32w6 via HDMI.

Guys, you could of saved your self the reinstall if you just backup xorg.conf.
