Well, my drive went out the other day and no one in surrounding area fixes ps3's any more so I was unable to buy parts local and ended up buying from ebay, but it is going to be a few days before I get it. I have a Demo model ps3 from March 07 so that is why I opened to fix my self and I don't want to be without, but Till then I can't do anything with my system but surf the web, can't download any demos to play cause I can't use sony store, so I decided to put linux on I have been running ubuntu on my pc for last year now and have used linux for a long while but have gotten out of practice big time with the terminal stuff.
So I extracted the files from the ps3 iso onto a 2gig memory card got other-os installed, booted to other-os and pow stuck at shell, which is what I figured since I was not using live cd, but I can't mount the sdc1 it says invalid argument with

any help would be great so that I could at least use my ps3 till the drive comes in.
PS if anyone replaced there laser tray and the drive motor was still good I am willing to take it off your hands :P
