vlc on ubuntu 7.10

Installing vlc or mplayer seems to be hard for me...

First I edit the sources.list file for the mirrors then I run the following lines in the terminal:

% sudo apt-get update
% sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-esd mozilla-plugin-vlc


then I get the following errors:


The following packages have unmet dependencies:
vlc: Depends: vlc-nox (= 0.8.6.release.c-0ubuntu5.1) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libsdl-image1.2 (>= 1.2.5) but it is not installable
Depends: ttf-dejavu but it is not installable
E: Broken packages


Whats wrong. How do I fix this and Install vlc?

Try "sudo apt-get install -f" then try the commands you listed above..... Should fix broken dependencies. Good luck

I get the same error message still...
