Default YDL v5.02 Install guide

Here is a list of the steps once you have formatted the hard drive in the GameOS and selected OtherOS as the default and rebooted the system with your YDL DVD in the PS3 ready for installation.
  1. you will see a black screen with two penguins on top and some text. when you see the kboot prompt in the text it will pause - either wait 10 secs or hit TAB key, select install and it will go into the graphical installation routine
  2. you will see onscreen 6 penguins and text scrolling
  3. select OK and select language
  4. select keyboard
  5. select Remove linux partitions on selected drives and create default layout and hit NEXT
  6. when you get a Warning, select Yes
  7. when you get a Low Memory message, select Yes
  8. important: type in a root password (at least 6 characters) when prompted, type it in again and then WRITE IT DOWN SOMEWHERE !!!! remember this password
  9. then hit Next
  10. wait for about 3-4 minutes while it checks dependencies
  11. then you will see a pic of boxes and a screen, hit Next
  12. wait an hour while it installs and compiles
  13. then hit the Reboot button
  14. up comes a Welcome screen, hit Forward, Agree to License, Forward, Select Date and Time, Select Username (create any regular username) and Password, hit Forward, then hit Finish
  15. then a blue login screen will come up, enter your username from above and then password, (optionally - you can click on Session at bottom of screen to select your desktop manager, GNOME or the Default - Enlightenment)
  16. You might get an error
    Quote:
    No '/dev/pmu device found
when you log in. Just hit OK
You are done. Time to configure the network settings, install VLC, mplayer, bittorrent, amarok ....
