Ok i've searched everywhere for an answer to my question but have yet to turn up anything substantial...ok anything at all.
I want to be able to watch and access movies on my PC HDD through my network, but every time I try and watch a movie(.avi) with VLC player it says that it is unable to access the drive because it isn't a local device...it's also says that it cannot find any network connections and yet I'm able to access my PC network and browse the files on it just fine.
So how can I watch movies from my PC HDD on my PS3 using VLC?
Sorry. I'm still stuck on the first step of this guide.
"In the downloads section is a file called vlc.zip
Get that and download it to your PS3."
Did there used to be a downloads section on this site? I tried finding VLC.zip on VideoLAN's website, but couldn't find it there either. They didn't have a section for Yellow Dog Linux and I really wanted to make sure I was getting the right files since I know nothing about Linux.

Yeah I couldn't find it either... there was a Downloads Section Sticky on the General Forums but there was nothing there.
Please re-upload it to rapidshare or something, I want VLC
That was my question as well - can't find the vlc.zip file.
There directions were not clear on where the "downloads section" acutally is.
Thanks to the post above I found it...but it does appear there is nothing in there, currently.
I couldn't get it working with a other tutorial. Now it's runnin' sweet. Finally some music in the background. Thanks!
BTW... It's funny how all MP3s forward or rewind when you change the system-time. Is this a 'problem'/'bug' of VLC or does this happen with all players on Linux..? ;p
---Step 3: Download file I and II.
Extract and copy all the files from file I to "Computer" (on desktop) -> File System -> etc -> yum.repos.d
---Step 4:
Extract all files from file II to your desktop. And go the /rpms/RPM/ on your desktop.
Just select all the *.rpm files. And press on the [Enter] key. Enter your root password and press on [Enter].
A window will open. Click on Apply.
---Step 5: Log in with you normal username. Download file III
Install it (same as step 4).
Now you can run VLC from Applications -> Sound & Video -> VideoLAN
