VLC Player - How to Install on PS3

Can i justr also state that the tutorial worked fine, and thanks very much to both parties, however i had trouble installing the SDL 1.2.10 file, but this was because i had already installed the one from the yellowdog disc, this might seem like an obvious problem to linux gods

But to newbies it might not be so obvious,

just use the software managment add/remove software program and untick the first 2 sdl files it might also remove the kdeaddons if you have them installled but yuo can reinstall these using the same package laters

hope this make sense and is of help, i may edit this post later to make it clearer lol

I guess I am not smart enough to understand this is it possible to break it down more like where to find the things to type what into im new to this also how do you install updates like firefox 2.0 or flashplayer for linux

VLC was easy to install, yumex was a b*th to get running at times. It works amazing and plays all ym videos/Mp3's but 1 provlem is with HD videos. When i play an HD video(take the MGS4 trailer) its all pixelated and distorted while normal Mp4s(SD or below ones) run in it without problems. Anyone else having the HD playback issues also the lack of surround sound gets me mad at times .

I FINALLY GOT VLC PLAYER UP AND RUNNING. I put it off because I thought I would have a difficult time resolving the dependencies but IT WAS SIMPLE!!! VLC PLAYER is good stuff....

Hi, I'm kinda intimidated by all these installation difficulties and VLC seems much more complicated to install than MPlayer. Mplayer's fullscreen functionality isn't the greatest and even with workarounds, 480p video is still extremely choppy. I've heard VLC can play fullscreen flawlessly when compared to MPlayer, is this true? Oh, and do I really need an internet connection to import those rpms? My PS3 is currently in my living room and the closest wired internet connection is in the next room.

WALMART sells EXTRA LONG ETHERNET CABLES... I had to get an extra long cable to plug into the next room too until I moved out of my parents house, heh.... Just follow the steps they give for VLC player, d/l the dependencies, MAKE SURE you are in the GNOME environment and you'll be fine....

Can't I download them rpms and everything onto my PS3 and then install from there?

I'm having the same problem as JCBGaming-com, and I can't seem to find those missing files. Anyone have any suggestions?

Nvm, I just used yumex to get all of the repositories I needed and got it installed. Though for some reason I can't go fullscreen.
