PS3 PAL games on PS3 NTSC console. Is it work?

Hi. I've just installed YLD again. But there is the same problem with login. I didn't enter login because system didn't ask me to do it. It just asked me to enter password. I did it. So when system ask me login and pass I enter root as a login and my password as a password. So, now it doesn't ask me a login and pass. It's changed to this word: root@localhost. You told me that next step is creating the new user but I didn't know jow to do it. I typed adduser, but the system gives me just some information. Help me please what should I do next after root@local host sign.

Ok. Now just type in init 5 and when you get in to the graphical login you will login with root again. Then just change the yaboot.conf file by opening a terminal from Applications-->Accessories-->Terminal and typing in:

su
 
password:
 
gedit /etc/yaboot.conf

You are going to scroll down and look for a line that looks like this:

append="rhgb quiet root=LABEL=/1"

Change the line inside the parenthesis to this:

"video=ps3fb:mode:1 rhgb quiet root=LABEL=/1"

Save and exit.

The yaboot.conf file is the file that tells YDL in what resolution to boot in. The number 1 is the standard denotation for 480i. If you want it to display in 576i then you would replace the 3 with a 6. Keep in mind that those numbers will make black borders on the TV. If you want fullscreen then just add 128 to the number. The bad thing with fullscreen on an SDTV is that it will overscan and the picture will extend beyond the TV frame. There is no current fix for this. That is why Terrasoft Recommends using YDL on an HDTV.

Now we are going to edit the /etc/inittab which is the file that tells YDL to boot into the graphical login instead of the text login.

Assuming you still have the terminal open type in:

gedit /etc/inittab

If you don't then just type in su and your password again.

Now scroll down and look for a line that looks like something like this:

id:3:initdefault:

Change the 3 to a 5. Save and now reboot your PS3. If everything goes correctly you should be able to go to the graphical login.

Now that you have that done login as root and then go to Applications-->System Tools-->Users and Groups. From there create your user acount, log off, and log in with your user acount to make sure that it works. Fini monsieur. C'est tres long et grand por moi ecrite. Hope it helps.

Thank you very much! I'll try to do it this evening. Yeah, I should buy HDTV. But I'm not sure buy it here in the States or in my country. Of course there it costs less, but how I'll be transport it? I don't know. If I will put it into my luggage it'll be broken in plane. And it is too big to take it like hand luggage. I never heard about special carefully luggage transporting. I know that I can send HDTV by mail. But it'll be cost too much and it'll be cheaper to buy it at home .

But when I will buy HDTV how should I switch to HDTV. I mean what should I type in? In SDTV it's impossible to work in such quality of image. You know what interesting sign I have found? Here is a list of the video modes that are at your disposal. When you get the HDTV just replace the number 1 or 6 with the number corresponding to the resolution that you want on your HDTV. I recomend 720p because the letters in 1080i and p are way to small.

The instructions only state that DVD's recorded in NTSC can be played. But that doesn't apply to games because they are on Blu-Ray Discs not DVD's. And all games are region free. It's the extra downloads for them that are region locked.

On all games I have bought there is number 1 region sign (NTSC). I will send you picture of game's box this evening. Yesterday I tryed to play DivX and MPEG movies. They are works in PS3 OS. But Blu-Ray rom makes more noise than usually. And it's working harder when it plays AVI than when it plays just DVD movie. I'm not sure that it's safety for Blu-Ray Rom. I mean it can be broken faster than usually. How do you think?

I have been hearing about an ISO loader from the time I have registered and it has always been delayed. Quite frankly I don't care about it anymore.

I have no idea on the "1" thing. I guess it is for our region and north americans don't want other people to play our games. But I have friends that order thheir games from Europe they work fine.

I have a little understanding about the Blu-Ray rom part. Can you reword it please?

I mean when I play DVD movie I don't hear any noise from Blu-Ray rom. But when I play DivX or MPEG movie I hear a lot of noise from Blu-Ray rom. Looks like it's not easy to PS3 to play DivX . I know what should I do to solve this problem. First I should copy movie to Hard Disk only then play movie.
I hope that the same situation with Russian's games.
