No "firmware" on Ps3, can't update anything
Yesterday, I was getting an error message on my PS3. I borrowed a friends PS3 and put my drive in his, and then back into mine and it worked fine. But, when I put his drive back in his PS3 it will not work. I keep getting the message that it needs to be formatted with version 2.10. I downloaded to my computer and put on a flash drive and then into the PS3 but it says it can't find the memory stick. I can not figure out what to do next. I actually went out and bought a new 80 gig SATA 2.5 hdd and same problem, works in my PS3 but not in the other one. It seems like maybe I stripped the OS system if it has one. I now have 2 HDs that both work in my PS3 but neither of them will work in his, even the brand new one. It had to be something about mine being in his, I think...maybe? And, I don't know how important it is but...the PS3 makes me use the controller with the USB cord attached. Will not work wirelessly.
I have been looking around and it seems that there is no "firmware" on his PS3 and because it won't see the flash drive I can't load the update. I can not get to main screen to even try and find the files that way. I have not seen this problem anywhere on here after doing what I did.
