great because i watched the super easy instruction video on youtube and they had the shell off the ps3 and a whole bunch of other stuff that looked really complicated... so what exactly do you mean by flashing?

flashing is reading/writing to flash memory.. in this case the ps3s internal flash memory.. where the firmware and some settings etc.. are stored... flashing also has the risk of damaging ur ps3 e.g a brick.. this is when some startup files get currupted or deleted.. thus rendering the ps3 usless..
