Default Remote Wakeup

I am wondering if I can remotely wake up my YDL setup if I set it as the defualt OS.

Currently I have [Please register to see this link. ] as the default boot loader for my YDL6 setup and on the download page where I got it from there is another image of petitboot but with network capability. Is there any possible way to do this?

As far as I am aware there is not. I have looked around and nothing seems to say anything about it.

I would say yes, but not yet.

There are several facets to "wakeups" that have to be present to do this. Let's stick with Wakeup on Lan (WoL) to describe them. The facets, as I understand them, involve hardware, firmware (or BIOS) and software.

"Unch" I know you understand most of this stuff, but I'm being pedantic for other readers.

The hardware involved is the motherboard and the network interface card. They have to support the feature and AFAIK the PS3 does, but doesn't have the firmware to activate it developed yet. Everyone knows what PS3 firmware is, I don't know if everyone knows it is at a minimum the same as PC BIOS plus more.

The "software" facet is that you need a small software client on the remote computer that will throw the Magic Packet at the PS3 network interface remotely from the LAN or the internet. No additional "software" is needed on the PS3. We are just turning on the hardware via digital switching.

So, when all the conditions are fulfilled by the PS3 firmware, assuming the capability is in the hardware, you should be able to do it. As I understand it, you are just turning the machine on, so if YDL is default boot, that is what will come up. When it is available on the PS3 there will likely by a setting

This Wiki isn't bad:

I also wouldn't mind seeing other power management features on the PS3. I probably would use it a lot more if it had hibernate in the Other OS state. I find it hard to justify burning 189watts to use something for an hour every day or two.

Yea but it doesn't boot to YDL primarily. It boots to the boot loader. I'm saying that the boot loader has network capabilities so maybe there is a chance.
