okay I think I'm almost there but I don't know how to pick a skin or even start the player.

I followed the instructions up to a T but got lost on that Skin part and Start up can u please help?

Linux H,

1. With your PS3, boot up Linux, go online, and open up Firefox and navigate to [Please register to see this link. ] and open up this message.

2. copy the entire command below in the Quote box by highlighting it and then Edit Copy at top of browser:

svn checkout svn://svn.mplayerhq.hu/mplayer/trunk mplayer
cd mplayer
./configure --enable-gui --enable-largefiles --enable-menu
--enable-dynamic-plugins && make && sudo make install

3. Minimize the Firefox browser and open up a terminal window in your Linux desktop

4. Login as root by typing su and then enter your root password

5. Edit Paste the entire command into the command line (the one you copied from above) and hit ENTER

you should see a whole bunch of text scrolling by as mplayer is compiled into your PS3.

Let me know if this step works. Then we continue.

HOOORAH!!!!!!!!!!! It works!!!!!! man that was hours in the making....... I was sweating and almost bleeding but by god I finally got it to work!!!

man it plays everything I throw at it better then my Real PC does.

Took me a couple of hours to figure out, But there is one small problem whenever I close the Termial I get an error message. But if I don't close it the player runs like a dream.

But the video files make the player exit and it gives me a error about codecs. where can I get new codecs?

Did you install with the SVN command?

You still need to download the codecs and install them with step 1 and step 4 of this post:
