please help me with linux

i have just installed linux fedora 5 on my ps3. but i don't know how to install plugin's and updates on linux (YES I'M THICK) can anyone give me a guide how to do this. any time i but a disc in i get a message saying not privilidge.

if its anything like ubuntu witch im guessing it is just go to applications/add remove(at the bottom of the list) jus click on that.
dont for get to ennable all repositeries (sry cant spell) lmao
