Default VLC for YDL V5.0

Hi all. I am about to install YDL version 5 and want to also install VLC. I checked the VLC website and it says that the latest version isn't supported by YDL 5.0 (ie Fedora core 5), so i was after possible solutions/workarounds. Is it possible to use an older version of VLC, and if so does anybody know where i can find an archive. What have others used with version 5.0?

Well we had a download section here that had it in there.

The section got taken down awhile ago and I'm not sure when it's suppose to be put back up.

I was able to get it working last night. Wasn't able to get sound though, I'll work on that hopefully this weekend.

I ended up using that same guide. Managed to get it working with the following problems.
1. Subtitles won't work.
2. Cannot get fullscreen.

There must be someone out there though that has got it working with YDL 5.0

Is your sound working? If so, anything special you had to do?

Sound worked fine straight off the bat for me. Seems strange that there are inconsistancies with identical hardware, operating system and application software.

Hi There,

I have got VideoLan installed on yellow dog 5.0 PS3. I am using a portable hard drive which is connected via USB. Movie playback isnt very good through videolan once you full screen using tv remote to get full screen, u can see blocks and some flickering on fast scenes. The films are ok one is 2gb avi and the other is 4gb dvd vob files.

Anybody any ideas why the quality not good?
