burning DVD's on linux

Hello Can I burn a Data DVD with lunix (ydl) on my ps3 that will be readable in another windows PC and on the PS3? ....
And another question if I burn a DATA DVD with my windows PC will linux be able to read it?

nero has actually released a linux dvd/cd burning application these cd's can be played on anything just go to [Please register to see this link. ]

but the main thing is i dont belive the drive within the ps3 has burning capability's meaning if u do isntall it u still wont be able to burn cuzz its not a drive that has that ability

It's my first post in here, and a total noob with in linux. but i whas thinking of plugging a external usb Dvd writer on ur ps3. But i dont know if it would work

would you be able to hook up and external USB burner and have it work seamlessly??
