Finally, North America will be getting the much coveted white PS3. According to recent filings with the FCC featuring a cover letter from Sony Japan, these documents along with pictures of the unit prove that this submission was filed back in October 2007 to not only the FCC but the American Telecommunications Certification Body as well. The documents requested a “short-term confidentiality to avoid premature release of sensitive information prior to marketing or release of the product to the public.”
Released in Japan in November, these 40 GB units come with a white DualShock 3 controller. This is great news for people who prefer something a little different than your standard gaming console, and who prefer a little variety.
