PS3 Drive Stopped, seccond time

My Blu-Ray drive has stopped working, this is the second time. Any suggestions other than sending back to the factory?

Yes but just send it back and get a new one. Ask for a test unit PS3 and then tell me what sony says. If you get the test unit, i'll give you my Playstation 3. If you don't get the test unit, ask for the MGS 4 80GB edition.

yea, def ask for the MGS 80Gb version, citing all of the troubles and downtime that you have had, ask for compensation.

Lol I wonder if they do send you a test unit. That would probably prompt me to have my BD drive "break". But if they don't they will probably send you a refurbished 40GB.

Another suggestion is to change out the laser diode. You can't switch the whole BD drive because it is keyed to the motherboard.

Well you can (with a soldering iron) and it would be a serious pain.

I wish my Playstation 3 was under warranty. I want the new Playstation 3 with the smaller Cell Processor.
