Default PS3 'uses five times more energy than a fridge'

According to [Please register to see this link. ], the PS3 'uses five tiems more energy than a fridge'. [Please register to see this link. ] is a chart that outlines different Computer's energy costs AND [Please register to see this link. ] is another source. According to these sources, should we keep Folding@Home regularly? I usually keep my PS3 on all the time and let it idle with Folding@Home running but ... I was thinking about turning my PS3 off for a whole week to see exactly how much of a difference it will make on the energy bill. What do you all think?

I just threw a kill-o-watt on my ps3. In "soft off" mode (power switch still on) it looks like you could save up to $4 USD per YEAR by turning the switch off when not in use.

With those savings you can almost buy an extra gallon of gasoline per year.

Compare this to the savings of someone who owns a home on the west coast and the east coast and travels back and forth several times a year by plane. If they reduced their living to one home it would have much more impact than thousands of gamers turning of their consoles.
