So if you're display is 720P, that's mode 3. 3+128= 131. Your video mode should be set to 131 in kboot.conf. Or you simply use your current mode 3, but add -f (full screen).

The problem with full screen is that it will overscan. So, the desktop area will go beyond your Plasma's display area. If your plasma has a way of reducing overscan, or eliminating it, then you won't have any problems. However, if your plasma does not have the capability to eliminate overscan, then you have a problem like the rest of us. Although your problem is far worse since black borders on plama will suffer burn-in. I would adivse to use the full screen mode (-f), or don't use PS3 linux at all on plasma screens.
can't you set a resolution like 1280x720 or does the ps3 hardware only allow 480i/p 720p and 1080i/p?
