When booting to OTHEROS all you will be able to do is erase the partitions.
Or create new ones... The alloted disk space will remain without any partitions.
A "Full" format via the PS3 OS should recover your space and wipe the alloted disk space.
Also, when you reformatted you probably alloted the 10GB partition to XMB(instead of linux),
which is why it is only displaying that much free space. I may back up my PS3 and try this
out myself to see what happens.
