Yes, actually I downloaded and installed VLC before reverting back to the FC6 dribble repo
I haven't tried mplayer yet but will be doing so tonight if you're interested.
I was hoping the FC7 repos would work, as they are still in development, but again this appears to be a trial and error situation.
