Attempts to install YDL 5.0
Well I burned the ISO to DVD, copied the otheros files, bought a USB mouse and keyboard, printed out the instructions to read right in front of my PS3.
I formatted my HDD, installed the otheros files, plugged in my USB keyboard and mouse, restarted my PS3 with the YDL disc inserted. Saw the 2 penguins, I saw the flood of code...and then that's when the fecal matter hit the fan.
I recieved the "loop"...I unplugged the mouse...nothing changed, I unplugged the keyboard and it stopped. Ok so it's my keyboard...that's fine i'll just leave it unplugged and follow the instructions again.
Wait...every time I try and hold the PS3 controller button the LED lights just flash...constanty and it does nothing. I plug in the USB cable and try again...still nothing. I hold the power button for 5 seconds, a beep and then it shuts down. Thank goodness. I hold the PS button down with the cable plugged in...and nothing. Well crap...ok, so I turn it on manually. Yay it powers on, but there are those 2 damn penguins again. I hold the PS button down for 10 seconds...nothing. The YDL just keeps trying to install itself, then I see the kboot, then I see it again...and again, and guess what? That's right, I see it again.
So I power it down and go to the only site I know that can answer my calls for help. What the hell is wrong with the PS3?!
I know the keyboard wasn't compatible, I read about that and tried to get a different one, but all my keyboards are PS/2, and my local WalMart doesn't have adapters and everywhere else is closed. How the deuce do I get back to the GameOS? Or is my PS3 decommissioned until I get a compatible keyboard and complete installation of YDL? :-}
